Actions

Redraws the image on a clean canvas — removes all EXIF, IPTC and XMP data.

Why remove photo metadata?

📍

GPS privacy

Photos taken with a smartphone embed GPS coordinates. Anyone can find your home address from a photo taken there.

📅

Timestamp privacy

EXIF timestamps reveal exactly when a photo was taken — useful for verifying alibis, less useful for your privacy.

📷

Device fingerprinting

Camera make, model and serial number can uniquely identify your device across multiple photos.

🔒

Runs locally

Your image never leaves your browser. We read and strip metadata entirely client-side.

Frequently asked questions

Does my photo get uploaded?
No. Everything runs in your browser using JavaScript. Your image never leaves your device.
What metadata does EXIF contain?
Camera make and model, GPS coordinates, date and time taken, ISO, aperture, shutter speed, focal length, editing software (e.g. Lightroom), copyright and more.
How is the metadata removed?
We redraw the image onto a fresh HTML canvas and export it as a new file. The canvas API never carries over EXIF data, so the output is always clean.
Does stripping metadata affect image quality?
For PNG output there is no quality loss. For JPEG we export at 95% quality which is visually lossless for most images.
What formats are supported?
JPEG, PNG and WebP. JPEG files most commonly contain EXIF data.
